After sleeping on it one night my husband and I felt very hot. We tried a second night and same thing.

I added another mattress protector on top of the Douglas waterproof one because we were feeling too hot. It seems to have made a difference because we are not as hot as were were. Sometimes we are still feeling a bit hot but we are not sure if it's the mattress or the change in weather since spring has arrived.

Q: How is this mattress protector different than the cover that comes on the Douglas mattress?

A: Hi, Alysha. The Douglas mattress cover is a machine-washable cover that contains Tencel® fibres. It is designed to help draw moisture away, but it is not waterproof.

Our mattress protector has a waterproof top panel to help protect your new investment from accidental spills or stains.

Q: Seeing the mattress protector fits mattresses up to 16" and the Douglas is only 10", will it be big/messy on the Douglas? I am looking for a tight fit. Thank you

A: Slats must be at least 2 inches wide, 3 inches or less a part, and have a centre support beam to be compatible with our mattress!

Q: Hi I am in the process of looking for a new mattress. If I were to purchase a Douglas putting on a Water Shield protector. Is this not going to compromise the cooling effect of the mattress itself (if there plastic in it that makes things HOT)? THX

A: That's a great question! We do suggest avoiding plastic and using breathable mattress protectors to keep the mattress from getting too hot. Have you checked out our mattress protector? Q: Do I require to purchase a mattress protector in order to be able to return the mattress during the 120 day trial if needed?

Using our mattress protector or any mattress protector is not required for your sleep trial, however the mattress must be in donatable condition for your return to be accepted. Q: how deep is thes mattress and the foundation

Q: My husband and I prefer a "soft" matress!! I absolutely need the "cooling effect"!

I already have a queen bed frame with the fabric headboard....would a Douglas matress be okay on this type of frame?? I don't need a box spring at all!

Also....we live in the east end about 1/2 hour or so from Orleans....would we need to pay for delivery?

A: Hey Carmen, thanks for your question! The Douglas is a medium firm mattress with a firmness rating of 6.6/10. That being said, it will provide a bit of sink and is designed for all sleeping positions.

If you're frame uses horizontal wood slats that are at least 2" wide and no more than 3" apart, or uses an untreated wood platform surface as the base for the mattress to rest on then you're all set! If your base has slats that are made of metal or do not meet the measurements specified, a simple fix is to place a sheet of plywood over top! That will provide your new Douglas the support it needs for you to get the most out of your new mattress.
